I have been a videographer, photographer, video editor and multimedia content producer for more than 20 years, working at WFLA-TV in Tampa for the last 16 years. In addition to producing video stories for WFLA, I’ve also had the great opportunity to work with the station’s former print partner, the Tampa Tribune, as well as TBO.com and WFLA.com to produce stories for print and digital audiences. In working with news teams to create and package stories for three unique platforms simultaneously, I’ve learned the different deadlines, shooting styles and audiences of each format, and I know how to maximize impact across media platforms.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Certification in Video Production for Broadcast, TV and Radio Production from the Specs Howard School of Media Arts. In 2016, I received a writing and reporting certification from the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.
Technology is always changing and opening new methods of communication and storytelling. I love to always be learning, exploring and finding new stories to tell – whatever the format.

Experienced Video Producer, Editor, Storyteller
Nothing communicates and engages audiences like a great video. Studies have shown that one minute of video is worth nearly two million words, and people retain 95% of information they see in video versus only 10% of what they read in text. I specialize in harnessing the power of video storytelling to inform and engage broadcast and online audiences in some of the nation’s largest markets. I never stop learning. My ambition is to make a positive difference – both internally on the teams I support and externally through the content I produce.

Experience and Results
Videographer, Multimedia, Assignment Editor
Nexstar Media Group Inc. (2000 – Present)
In my current role, I am part of the award-winning team at WFLA-TV in Tampa, Florida, where I produce and coordinate video and multimedia stories in the nation’s 12th largest market. Highlights of my work here include: Producing video and multimedia stories about major national events including Super Bowls, Stanley Cup Championships, NASA space shuttle launches, the Republican National Convention, and natural disasters like the 2004 hurricane season.
Managing assignments, field teams and equipment as an assignment editor from 2011-13. This included identifying stories, scheduling shoots, delegating to appropriate team members, prioritizing needs, and often pivoting in a fast-paced environment. Creating compelling video graphics, researching and producing in-depth consumer reports on the Consumer Unit speciality team to which I was assigned from 2006-2008.
Aerial photography and videography from “The Eagle” helicopter.
Still photography and photo editing for print, social media and web photo galleries. Operating microwave equipment for live broadcasts and to transmit audio-visual content from the field.
Serving as pool videographer in high-security situations, providing content not only for my own station but also for others in the market. Training new team members in video production, editing and station protocols.
Receiving special clearance dozens of times to cover U.S. presidents and vice presidents, presidential candidates, and activities at MacDill Air Force Base, home to U.S. Central Command and Southern Command.
Collaborating effectively with emergency officials including police, sheriff’s deputies, FEMA, Secret Service, FBI and others while on assignment.
Having my videos picked up nationally by the Today Show and other NBC and Nexstar affiliates.
Being promoted to the station’s top show in 2016, where I now produce stories for every workday morning broadcast.
Videographer, Video Editor
Raycom Media (1997-2000)
Moving from the nation’s 64th-largest market to the 37th-largest was a big and exciting leap in my career. At WXIX-TV in Cincinnati, I had an opportunity to not only shoot and edit video stories on a daily basis, I also learned to operate microwave video equipment for live broadcasts from the field. The hilly landscape of the area posed unique challenges for live transmission, so success required me to develop a deep knowledge of all audio-visual equipment, conduct regular troubleshooting and rapidly solve technical problems. Creatively, I worked closely with writers and producers to develop stories, and I focused on producing compelling visuals and rich audio to support each narrative.
Videographer, Video Editor
Disney ABC Television Group (1994-1997)
I was lucky enough to land my first video production role at a Disney ABC owned-and-operated television station in one of the nation’s Top 100 media markets, Toledo, Ohio. Completing projects on tight deadlines every day, I shot and edited video stories about health, sports, local politics, economic development and crime. One of the most memorable stories I covered was the abduction of a Big Boy restaurant statue. The cartoon-like figure was stolen and cut into pieces which were then left at other Big Boy restaurants in the area. The prankster culprits were never found, but the incident captured audiences nationwide when both CNN and MTV picked up our story.
Teaching Assistant
Specs Howard School Of Broadcast Arts (1994)
While pursuing my video production certification at Specs Howard after completing my Bachelor’s degree at Eastern Michigan University, I stepped up as a teaching assistant to help other students master the art of video storytelling. This included training others in photography techniques and style; field production; documentary reporting and script-writing; and video editing.
Marketing Coordinator
Secondary Polymers (1991-1992)
Hardly anyone was recycling plastic in Detroit during the early 1990s. Secondary Polymers was on a mission to solve that problem. As Marketing Coordinator, I reported to the company president and led direct outreach and education initiatives to engage neighborhoods, civic groups and businesses in some of the first community recycling programs in the area. I also helped to execute agreements with the parks department to place collection bins in public spaces.
Photo Lab and Office Manager
Ultimate Photo (1989-1994)
I was introduced to the world of photography as a photo lab and office manager for this small business in the suburbs of Detroit. For five years, while I finished college and also worked other jobs to support myself, I was the right-hand assistant for the company owner. I managed daily business operations, including customer service, accounts payable and receivable, inventory management, photo editing and darkroom processing.
